New generation FENiX vehicle wash systems
In a significant step forward for the vehicle wash industry, Tammermatic, a leading manufacturer of automatic vehicle wash systems, has launched its innovative FENiX line. The new series represents a comprehensive redesign that balances advanced technology with practical improvements in manufacturability and maintenance.
Cost optimization and quality
Prevas played a key role in the development of the new washing machine series, working closely with Tammermatic to further develop the existing product line. The project involved several engineering disciplines, from industrial design to mechanical and electrical engineering, with a strong focus on manufacturing costs, visuality and quality.
“Our approach has been to carefully evaluate each component and its impact on the overall system,” says Tuomas Oja, project manager at Prevas. “Through extensive cost analysis of the existing machine and close collaboration with the Tammermatic team, we were able to identify areas where we could make meaningful improvements while maintaining reliability.”
Balancing innovation with proven solutions
The development process included several innovative considerations, for example the optimization of centrifugal fan ducts. One of the most visible innovations has been the introduction of acrylic doors with large screens, which not only enhance the machine’s aesthetic appeal but also provide practical real-time information display capabilities.
“The project team maintained a strong focus on manufacturability throughout the development process,” says Tuomas Oja. “While some innovative solutions were explored, such as replacing mechanical side guards with ultrasonic sensors, we ultimately prioritized proven reliability when it came to safety. Weekly meetings between the design team and Tammermatic’s manufacturing experts ensured that each proposed solution was aligned with their manufacturing capabilities.”
Results through collaboration
Regular collaboration between Prevas and Tammermatic ensured that the final design not only met market requirements but could also be efficiently produced using Tammermatic’s existing manufacturing infrastructure. The result is the FENiX line – a vehicle wash system that offers customizable aesthetics, improved brush systems, and advanced control systems with remote diagnostics capabilities, all manufactured entirely in-house at Tammermatic’s facilities.
