Servo U MR: Ensuring Patient Safety in MR Environments

In collaboration with our Getinge, we developed the Servo U MR, a cutting-edge ventilator specifically designed for use in Magnetic Resonance (MR) environments. Our team at Myra created prototypes, concepts and final designs for the Gauss meter, auto-lock feature, and MR labeling to enhance safety and usability. With a focus on the unique challenges posed by the strong magnetic fields in MR rooms, we crafted an intuitive solution that provides both visual and audible alerts to guide users in positioning the device safely.

Guiding Users with Visual and Auditory Alerts

The Servo U incorporates a magnetic field indicator that is crucial for navigating the MR environment. This indicator provides clear guidance on safe positioning through visual signals and audible alerts.

When the ventilator is in the optimal operational zone, a green light confirms that the system is performing correctly. However, as users approach the MR scanner, yellow and red alerts activate, signaling that they are getting too close to the magnetic field. This proactive safety feature ensures that technicians can operate the device without compromising patient safety.

Auto-Lock Handle

Designed with usability in mind, the Servo U features an auto-lock handle that secures all wheels when the user’s hand is removed, providing stability during operation. This feature enhances safety by preventing unintended movement of the ventilator in a high-stakes environment. Additionally, the 360-degree rotating screen allows for flexible placement, ensuring that users can access vital information from any angle. Together, these design elements make the Servo U an effective tool for managing the respiratory needs of patients in MR environments.
